I too can reach the bursting point

This comment is made in regards to the November 7th post (page 43-46) of the book and reflect my own feelings as to what Anne Frank said.
We all have a boiling point and we will all burst when reaching this point. This burst can come with lots of power or less power depending on the situation. With having a younger female sibling you go through periods of frustration as well as periods of fun and understanding. I guess it’s all part of living together, growing up and finding out who you are. Even within your family, you are all not alike and we all need our personal space. This will give friction from time to time; to parents, siblings and to friends around you.
We try to draw attention to ourselves through our actions and if faced with injustice from parents, from teachers, from siblings or from friends around you, you react in different ways. Seldomnly in hiding though. You want to shout, be seen and fight back.
Who could possibly know that so much goes on in the soul of a young person?

I was not present when this assignment was given, so I am writing this using a fair bit of free imagination. I don’t think anyone really had time nor ressources at the time to deeply think about what went on in the mind of young Anne Frank as she experienced the horrors of the the Holocaust. This period in World history was filled with much personal devastation and horror and for many this was a time of survival. The fact that Anne Frank had time and desire to document her views and expressions on the Holocaust during this period, in spite of the tragedy and in spite of facing death in the eyes, has probably in the aftermath opened up peoples eyes to how young people (like Anne Frank) experience violent behaviour around them and how - in the absence of having time and the possibility to discuss this with grown ups when it actually happens - she chose to write about it.
I think this fact, rather than the fact that Anne Frank lost her life so close to the ending of WWII, made a big impression on people and made them realize that young people are often forgotten in a conflict.
Writing is never Perfect
December 12th, 2006 by fred in Uncategorized · No Comments
Writing does not need to be perfect to get a message accross. I was once told that if you get the first two and the last two letters right in a word, the reader will easily understand the word and easily be able to put meaning to this even in a long a complicated sentence. Example, “excellent” can be spelt excnllent and “interesting” could be spelt inetrtsing - without readers losing understanding of the text. I like to think of that when I write. Seeing how words are changed and shortened as we all think speed when typing SMS messages on our phones is something that will challenge the way we use words in the future. Maybe not all for the good.

Anthropologist–A person who studies the origin of ancient cultures.
Archeologist- A person who studies artifacts buried in the ground. Mostly bones
Economist-A person who studies the currency and economic system of countries and civilizations.
Historian-A person who studies events in history.
Linguist-A person who studies languages of countires or civilizations.
Theologian-A person who studies the religion of a country or civilization
Step 1:
Where did the Aztecs originally live? What prompted them to relocate? Where did they end up and why? Chose an artifact, which you feel best, represents this event. Support your choice
An Aztec leader had a dream about heir promised land or perfect settling place. He took the warriors in the tribe away from They came to a lake where the five tribes living there told them they could settle on the island in the center of the lake. The artifact I like best is a picture of the egle eating a snake on cactus which is what made the Aztecs stay on the island

Step 2:
The Aztecs ended up in the middle of a lake and built their new capital Tenochtitlan. What were the pros and cons of settling in the middle of a lake? Describe the lay of the land and chose an image for your exhibit.
Cons-trade is made difficult due farther travel.
-Tenochtitlan is a crossrooads and will be strategic to hold making it a magnet to the other 5 tribes living there.
-The inhabitants will have to rely on themselves to survive as they can only use the resources on their island.
-Limited living space.
-low hygiene due to crowding.
Pros-Easy to defend due to amphibious assault being the only way to board the island.
-Extremely rich soil.
-Chinampas make more space on land because farms are built on platforms.
-Center of all trade.
-unlimited fishing source.
Step 3:
Which gods were worshiped? The pyramids were built for what purpose?
Tezcatlipoca, Quetzalcoatl, Tlaloc, Chalchiuhtlicue, HUITZILOPOCHTLI and Xipe - Totec
The temples were used to sacrifice humans which was belived to strengthen the gods making them better rulers.
Step 4:
Who are the different members of Aztec society? What are their roles? Choose an artifact that represents the social order of Aztec society.
there were three classes in the social structure
Slaves- Children who had been sold by their parents. These Children were usualy only sold for a short time period and coulb buy back their freedom.
Commonors- Commonors were farmers and traders although moslty traders. Some Commonors were allowed to own farms which were worked by the lower commonors.
Nobles- Nobles were given their position mostly birthright. Some also earned the posoition similar to a malysian Dato. Nobles we mostly priests, physicians, artists, government members or military leaders.
Step 5:
The Aztecs have a spoken language. What was it called? Did they use any other forms of communication? Include an example of either written or visual language of the Aztecs.
The aztecs used pictogaphs, Logographs, Ideographs, Alphebetic writing systems and syllabic writing systems.
Step 6:
How did the Aztecs grow food and what was their main crop? Did they trade and with whom? Did they have a currency (money)? Find an image for your exhibit about making a living Aztec style.
The aztecs main crop was corn. They used a floating platform called a chinampa to grow crops such as corn, tomatoes, squash beans and chili pepers
For currency the Aztecs used certain luxury goods such as cotton cloaks, gold dust encased in quills, but mostly cacao beans
Step 7:
Discuss the Impact of Spanish Contact 1519 from both the Aztec point of view and the Spanish point of view. Find an image depicting this event.
The Spanish gained an empire and many riches from the new world but the Aztecs were almost wiped from the face of the earth.
Step 8:
Discuss La Malinche or Dona Marina. Debate her positive/negative impact on Mexico past and present. What does the term Mestizo refer to? What influences remain today from Aztec culture of the past?
Negative- she helped the Spanish conquer mexio.
Positive- she helped save many Indian lives and she stopped human sacrifrice.
Because of the war mexicos official language is now Spanish.
Note from Ms. S:
I encourage you to communicate with your classmates to assist each other. All of you are completing the same task. Help each other to understand the information you will learn and give each other ideas on how to make your presentations informative and creative. I look forward to all of your presentations.

what is courage?
December 6th, 2006 by fred in Anne Frank · 2 Comments
Having courage is many times refered too as being aperson who risks alot or enters a situation they are not used to but i believe there is a different type of courage that is much more dificult then any of previous. The courage Anne Frank has.she had to go into hiding when the Nazis occupied holland because she was a Jew.she stayed strong for many years in a small house and a concentration camp and she still did not break.i believe this is an example of extreme courage coming from a young girl but after she lost the only family she had left her sister margo Anne lost her will to live. I believce this the most courages type of courage.
